Know the Different Ways to Take Live Signals from Machine for OEE Monitoring

For any workshop, one among the largest challenges is knowing what's happening on the workplace so that activities may be measured, controlled and improved. Automated Online OEE Monitoring just like those based on the MTConnect standard, build it attainable to collect knowledge that offers managers, engineers and operators’ real-time information about shop floor activities to assist them to make faster and better choices.

The Internet of Things or IoT is enabling every kind of devices and machines around you to attach and exchange information with each other and with you. The industrial internet of Things or IoT is the biggest enabler of industry 4.0 initiatives in manufacturing facilities across the planet.
In the CNC shop, idle time on CNC OEE Machine Monitoring Software may be up to 25%. In fact, several CNC shop Managers even don't know the precise idle time. These companies have bought few pricey machines & these are idle for a few reasons or the other.

What will this mean in terms of production and profitability?
1. Your ROI is straightaway reduced by 25%.
2. You are perhaps manufacturing 75% per shift when you might be manufacturing 100.
3. Your costs about get 25% higher, in the cut-throat market out there.
One of the nice ways to avoid these numbers with efficiency is by using CIMCO-MDC product. MDC is manufacturing data collection. CIMCO is a Danish company.

CIMCO MDC max - Machine Monitoring Software
This is the foremost advanced module of CIMCO-Denmark for activity the efficiency of a CNC machine in terms of OEE.  This module offers the online display of CNC status. The most necessary feature is that this offers a very true data collected from the CNC.

There are 7 alternative ways to capture the machine data as below:
1)    Use FOCAS interface in Fanuc: It directly offers information from CNC Memory but all FANUC systems do not Support this.
2)    Use   DPRNT Commands: System puts DPRNT Command in every Part Program.
E.g. DPRNT [CYCLESTART]
The Cycle starts Signal will be sent on RS-232 port. However, all FAUC don't support DPRNT function.
3)    Use  CIMCO MDC Box: System will take 3 digital signals from Machine via this hardware box on RS-232 port. Most typical signals Cycle start, Cycle Stop Count
4)    Use Spare Relays in Haas: Haas has Relays like M21, M22 & M23. These may be wired these to MDC box. Further, you have to use M codes in Code to activate the relays.
5)    Use Relay Board & Tower Lamp: Take signals from a Tower Lamp & operate three relays. Use NO contacts of those relays to take Signals to MDC box.
6)  Use MTConnect interface: this is often a universal protocol developed Recently. Some latest CNC like Mazak, OKUMA, FANUC, support this. You can directly get Machine status
In MDC by this protocol.
7)    Use Netlink for Sinumerik 840: For Sinumerik 840-D,  Netlink Hardware can offer most of the MDC Signals. There is an instant interface in CIMCO-MDC code for netlink.
Downtime may be scanned by an android phone or Tab.

We hope this article helps you.

Using OEE for enhancing Machine Productivity

The manufacturing industries need to find out the best method to improve their performance and OEE is a way to know about the position of your manufacturing level. Overall Equipment Effectiveness is used to check the effectiveness of a manufacturing operation. In order to get rid of any sudden wear and tear of machines, OEE can be a lot helpful and that’s why it should be used by almost every manufacturing industry.

What are the advantages of checking OEE through Data-driven manufacturing?
Before using OEE, one should know about the benefits of using it for Machine productivity and here are the main benefits of checking the machinery with the help of Data driver manufacturing procedure:

• Increased utilization
The utilization of the machine is increased with the help of this procedure as it can help in finding defects in the machine. The full utilization of the machine can be done by knowing about the functioning of the machine.

• Enhanced efficiency
For the improvisation of machines, OEE is very necessary and efficiency of the machines can be enhanced by knowing about the issues and reasons of slower speed. The best products can also record the signatures of operations and this can provide actionable analytics. For knowing about better insights regarding the efficiency improvement, OEE Monitoring System can be used by the manufacturing industries.

• Reduction of cost per component
Who wants to spend a huge amount of money on a particular work done by machinery? Of course, saving money should also be the priority of the company and that’s why it becomes highly important to reduce the cost per component. So, Overall Equipment effectiveness can enable one to know about the effectiveness of the machinery.

• Improving maintenance
Irrespective of effective machinery, it is also important that the machine is maintained in an appropriate manner. Without proper maintenance, it can be impossible to use the machinery and the  CNC OEE Machine Monitoring Software can help one to know if the machine needs maintenance or not.

• Way to earn more money
It is crystal clear that the money can be earned only when the manufacturing process is determined with lower cost and high efficiency.

These are the main benefits of checking OEE in order to enhance the productivity of machinery. So, you should never skip the online OEE monitoring because it will be helpful for the maintenance of your machine along with the improvement in the final product.

How to boost OEE with automated machine tool monitoring

In the world of e-commerce, investment budgets being tight and ROI is critically assessed, especially in heavy projects. At the same time, firms must meet increasing demand in areas like APAC to gain market share. Everyone is finding answers to questions like, how to get the most out of your existing equipment while having low investment costs? How to improve throughput and get more without investing additional that will give better ROI in already thin margins? Etc.  Here, many CNC OEE machine monitoring software and OEE monitoring system are getting handy to answer these questions.

Companies will boost their instrumentation utilization and overall operational performance by implementing monitoring and measuring of KPIs like overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). OEE is a powerful metric that's calculated from actual equipment availableness, performance and quality losses. It captures when an asset is accessible, the speed at which it operates and therefore the products out of quality specification. Measuring and monitoring OEE is a sensible start line, however, to gain true worth from digital transformation, a more refined approach is required. It’s necessary to add operational context to enable root cause analysis, thus operators can verify the causes of the unscheduled period.

Advanced performance monitoring solutions transcend OEE for a full dive into how production logistics and designing, quality operations or maintenance activities could impact the performance of producing operations. These solutions are now combining OEE monitoring with equipment usage state tracking and advanced reporting. Adding work order management and production execution tracking to the picture provides a transparent categorization of unplanned downtime vs product transition or idle time. In addition, monitoring production line OEE needs validating the product flow across individual line equipment. This naturally ends up in a focus on line bottlenecks. That holistic real-time read of efficiency and performance, with related to analytics, empowers users to take corrective action to mend problems. This data additionally helps identify inefficiencies, which might facilitate drive operational change across entire purposeful domains and organizations.

Hosting performance management and information storage in the cloud additionally suggests that the solution will connect people and systems anywhere. These systems are very scalable, permitting a performance management approach covering multiple sites across the world. With plant and equipment data coming along within the cloud, side-by-side comparison of equipment efficiency is of course much easier.

Whether online OEE monitoring and measurement is hosted on-premises or in the cloud, the digital transformation of the continual improvement processes will give serious edges to overall operational performance, permitting e-commerce and F&B companies to get more out of their existing equipment.
